DIGGING FOR READERS

Mike recently had a book launch at Mentone Public Library on Saturday 13th of August. Mike spoke of his inspiration for the novel being the shortage of fiction aimed at adolescent boys. He hoped that by setting his novel in 1966- the first year of conscription for Australian forces to fight in Vietnam he would attract young male readers.Host Graeme Johnston responded with the story of his narrow escape from being conscripted to fight in the war, which was called ‘Winning the lottery.’  The event concluded with Mike busily signing copies of Dig.
